Planes, Trains and Big-ass Boats

Grover might have had the perfect afternoon: on our way to Kelly Point Park along the Columbia River, we were stopped for a long while at a train crossing- Grover was mesmerized. Once we got to the park, G shrieked with glee while watching Timmy perform his stunts.   Down by the water, several airplanes flew in low and loud, and many cargo freighter ships were at Terminal 6 unloading their goods.

We had a cartwheel-off at sunset.  I believe Rich, in the third and fourth pictures, is the clear winner. 

Swimsuits in January?

On the Oregon coast?  We made an 11th hour decision to head for the coast this weekend, and packed for the usual coastal weather: damp and chilly.  We were all completly surprised to find weather so warm and sunny that the kids were comfortable in swimsuits on the beach.  No wind even- unheard of! Never Enough

You'd think that after running around Forest Park all morning, a 2 year old would be too tired to run around another park all afternoon.  But if you thought that about the particular 2 year old named Grover, you'd be wrong. Download CIMG0095

Forest Grover

Grover's gotten to go on a few trips to Forest Park this past week.  The park's trails are full of trail runners, and Grover fits right in among them since he runs full force the whole time we are there.  He does occasionally stop to perch dangerously close to the slippery creek-side edge of the trail, and a scenario of dragging a frost-bitten, soaked-to-the-bone tot out of the creek and up a muddy hillside flashes in my head each time.  But still, we go back for more.

  The work of a madman is displayed on the walls here.  Santa left some tub crayons in G's stocking, and the boy has put them to work.  I guess this explains a thing or two.
